The Photographic Guild of Los Gatos was organized in 1969. It is composed of amateur and professional photographers who are interested in staying current in the fast-changing fields of photographic equipment and techniques.
The Guild meets on the third Friday of each month to hold informal discussions and exchange information. Various workshops are conducted on special techniques and new photographic processes. There are also frequent field trips, within California and abroad.
The affiliated PGLG Educational Foundation (501.3C) sponsors an annual photography competition, which is open to all junior photographers from high schools throughout the Bay Area. When the contest was first held in 1968, only 75 photos were entered. The competition has grown in recent years to over 1200 entries from 451 students and 18 schools. For more information about the contest for this year, visit the PGLGEF website.
